Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas) is an American R&B and pop singer and actress. By 2005 she was a member of the R&B girl group Destiny's Child. Since 2003 she has been working as a solo artist Beyoncé; their seven albums all reached number one on the American Billboard charts.
She has sold over 200 million records solo and with Destiny's Child, making her one of the most successful artists in the world. In 2009, she was named Billboard Magazine's Best Female Artist of the Decade; In 2011 she received the Billboard Millennium Award. In 2014 she was voted the most influential artist by Forbes magazine and at the age of 32 received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for lifetime achievement.
